Sophie's choice

Dutch artist Anouk Griffioen and photographer Annemarieke van Drimmelen worked together on a project called Sophie. All inspired by the Dutch model Sophie Vlaming. Seen are transparent and fragile images, collages in black and white, an exploration between the parallels of photography and illustration resulted in Sophie, a beautiful series of portraits. The images will be exhibited in Magazijn 153 (Oudezijds Voorburgwal 153, Amsterdam, the Netherlands) the 27th and 28th of November. Together with the exhibition a special cassette with signed prints will be available in a limited edition of 50. A beautiful must see collaboration. Check out their site for more info!

Silly bracelet

Has any of you heard about rubber band bracelets? I guess this will be the newest hype! It are rubber bands, shaped in all thinkable forms and available in all kinds of neon colours. Without wearing them you’ll recognize the shape, but when wearing, it just looks like a weird (but cute) rubber bracelet.
It may sound a bit childish but since I’ve seen them around Stella McCartney’s show location in Paris is this my new must have accessory.
Every child in the US is begging for these, and the fad is spreading to middleschools, highschools, college campuses and have even been spotted on the arms of Hollywood divas. Silly Bands are more than just a fad. I got the T-shirt shaped variations yesterday at a presentation and now I want them in all kinds of fashionable shapes! Please let me know if you know a selling point around?

Mad girl

Mad Men is an American dramatic television series created and produced by Matthew Weiner. Mad Men is set in the 1960s, initially at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City, and later at the newly created firm of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. The focal point of the series is Don Draper (Jon Hamm), creative director at Sterling Cooper and a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, as well as those in his life, both in and out of the office. As such, it regularly depicts the changing moods, social mores, and political correctness of 1960s America. Besides the fact that the show is an intelligent supplement to all of the other existing television shows it is already a pleasure just looking at it. This fall a lot of designers got their inspiration by the show (Louis Vuitton, Prada) And I just found this funny site on where you can create your own online mad man character. Check it out on Mad Men yourself, and get your own Mad Men/sixties dress on Doublerlesol!

Golden edge

A few weeks ago I attended a fashion show from Sonia Rykiel. Today I was searching the internet to find their show tune. While visiting their site I bumped on their amazing blog with lovely stories, pretty words like: Bonheur << J’ai reconnu le bonheur au bruit qu’il a fait quand il a claque la porte>> which means something like: ‘I found happiness at the sound he made when he slams the door’ Lol.

Behind the tab modern vintage you’ll find lovely old fashion magazine pictures and vintage movies. One little thing. Everything is in French. But don’t say pictures more then thousand words? Check out Sonia Rykiels Blog: rykielles.com
Oh and btw, I did found the sound of the fashion show. Which also has a lovely vintage sound: The Stranglers - Golden Brown

Fashion Memory

Check out this new gadget which immediate took a position on my wish list;
This new Memory Game challenges players to find combinations of young people with special characteristics and street-style clothing. These are beautiful photographs of people from all nationalities, photographed in the streets of Amsterdam during last year. For the game, the pictures have been cut in two. Based on their clothing, their attitudes and backgrounds of the people in the photographs, players can join the slightly enlarged faces with the rest of the bodies. Pairing off the sections is great fun, an excellent game for children and for anyone who is interested in street fashion or in search of a trendy gift.
The photography is by Barbara Iweins, a Flemish photographer who lives in Brussels and Amsterdam.

Cleaning out my closet

Today I went cleaning out my closet. Every time I pick up my laundry to put it back in my closet I doubt at some items if I would ever wear them again. I’ve filled up 9 bags with last season’s tops, shoes and various ‘way out of style’ items ready to visit the recycling bin.

Then a stroke of unexpected luck. My closet has space again! And that could only mean one thing! Fill it up again!
For example with the cute strapless dresses! Now for sale @ doublerlesol.com!

Strapless dress, now € 29,95 (before € 59,95)

Baby one more time

On my personal wish list, started when I was at the age of 12, are many many wishes. Some of them come true, like buying the perfect jeans (yearly event) Order the largest pizza (monthly) or cry because of laughter (weekly)

Some of my wishes are on my list for years; winning the lottery (as if) making a trip around the world (2015?) Getting married in Vera Wang (when?)

Some of my wishes seemed to be more realistic then I ever thought: Visiting Paris as many as I can (working on it) Knowing my way around in NY (busy) and last but not least; being front row at a Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion show (check!)
Last night his spring summer 2011 show was live streamed on his website and if you’d ask me, I had the best view ever!

Any wishes left?
